Gir wildlife Sanctuary and National Park Gujarat

Gir national park and wildlife sanctuary is located in Gujarat state of India. This national park is spread over approximately 1424 square kilometers. The national park and forest reserve is the only home to Asiatic lions. The important species are protected here as it is one of Asia’s most important reserve forests.

Recently the Supreme Court decides to send some lions from Gir to Kunno national park Madhya Pradesh. The Asiatic lions in India will find another home. Until this happens, the Gir is the only place to see them.

Here 30 species of mammals, 20 species of reptiles. It is the only place in the world except southern Africa where lions can be seen in their natural habitat.

Information about Gir national park
Gir has the last refuge of the Tigers, is one of India’s most important wildlife sanctuaries. Gir forest wildlife sanctuary was built in 1969 and 6 years later, expanding its 140.4 sq km area  this place is established as national park. The sanctuary has now expanded to approximately 258.71 square kilometers. Now the number of tigers is now increased up to 312.
Wildlife Of Gir national park: –
India’s largest stature deer, sambar, chital, nilgai, chinkara and reindeer can be seen here as well as bears and the big-tailed baboon is found in large quantities. Few people are aware that the Gir is also a bird conservation area where visitor can see eagle, woodpecker and flycatcher can also be seen. Forms for crocodiles in the jungle that is being developed will enhance the attractiveness of the side.
Gir national park Safari: –
If you want to see the Lion then you must take safari. Taking safari in morning is a good Idea because morning is the best time to see Lions.
Best Time To visit Gir national Park: –
This wildlife sanctuary is open from October to Mid June. It remain close in monsoon season.
