‘Ranganathittu Bird Sanctuary’ is located near the kaveri lake of Srirangapatnam. It is major attraction in the region. This sanctuary is spread over 67km2 and made up of 6 mini islands. This place is also known as the “kashi of Birds“.

Timing- 9 AM to 6 PM
The ornithologist Dr Salim Ali observed the place and suggest the Mysore king to form a bird sanctuary at this place. Currently this sanctuary is under the Forest department of Karnataka and they are doing continuous efforts to conserve the bird species.
Bird Species in Ranganathittu Bird Sanctuary-
This sanctuary is the home for many local and migratory birds like Cranes, Pelicans, white ibis, egret, and grouse. If you want to see more birds then you have to take a boat ride where you can see herons and open-bill storks.
Major threats for Ranganathittu Sanctuary:
Flooding is the main threat for this sanctuary, Due to heavy rain from last decade damages some portion of this place.

Entrance tickets cost 50 rupees for Indians and Rs 300 for foreigners who come to this sanctuary nominal entrance fee of 50 Indian rupees and 300 rupees by foreign can enjoy boat ride.
