Understanding The Background Of Campbell National Park

Campbell national park is around 190 km far from Sumatra. It is one of the largest national park in Nicobar Island . Once it was a part of Galathea National park but now it is separated. Great Nicobar  Biosphere Reserve is made up by adjoining Campbell and Galathea national park.

Established In– 1992
Best Time to visit– March To October
Visitors who wants to visit this place have to take Pawan Hans helicopter from the capital Port Blair because this park is located in Island. The Pawan Hans helicopter facility is given by the Indian government.

Bird Species in Campbell National park– The main bird species of this park are Nicobar Pigeon, megapode and Edible-nest Swiftlet. Nicobar Pigeon is one of the best bird to see in this Island.

1. Cellular Jail:  This jail was established in 1906 and used to keep Indian freedom fighters. There is a art gallery and museum inside the jail where one can experience the efforts of our freedom fighters. There is  a light show organized in every evening.
2. Barren Island: If you want to see the ultimate beauty of greenery then Barren Island is the perfect spot for you. The place is covered by sand, rocks and plant species.
Attraction of the park–  The park is known for flowers, plants, and rich variety of orchids and aquatic plants. Due to the presence of various species of birds, visitor can also enjoy the bird watching here. From the watch tower in forest visitor can take the experience of bird watching.
