Golconda Fort History

The name derived from the Telgu words, which stands for ‘shepherd’s hill’ . Built by Mohammed Quli Qutb Shah in 1525, Golconda fort reveals the 400 years old rich cultural heritage of India and also shows the luxurious culture of Nawabs at that span of time. This fort was once a capital of Golconda dynasty.

This place once hosts the beautiful diamonds and Darya-e Nur & “KOHINOOR” is one of them, this is the reason that this fort was once known as a Diamond Trade center. While Darya-e Nur (185 carat diamond) is now in Iran, Kohinoor is now in United kingdom.

Golconda Fort Sound and Light Show

A sound and light show which show the history of this fort and will visualize the rulers, kings and other officials of that time by illuminations. This light show help to understand the culture of that time. Once the legendary Bollywood actor Mr. Amitabh Bacchan lent his voice the show.

Spacious halls, apartments, mosques and parade grounds are the most beautiful and famous things of Golconda fort. with 8 gates including one main gate which is used for victory march. The length of main door is 25 feet and width is 13 feet and to prevent from elephants it was built by steel spikes.
