Tungnath Temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva, who is one of the main deities of Hinduism. The meaning of Tungnath is “Lord of the Peaks”, and its location makes justice with that name. This temple is located at an altitude of 12,073 Feet and considered as a highest Shiva Temple in the World.

This Temple is one of the 5 & the highest Panch Kedar temples situated in the mountain range of Tungnath.
This temple is located just 2 km the peak of Chandrashila.
It is believed that this temple is 1000 years old and believed that the Pandavas built it to appease Lord Shiva.
Tungnath is the source of 3 springs that form the river Akashkamini.

Opening and Closing Timings
The Temple opens with the starting of Hindu’s sacred Char Dham Yatra in the month of April and closed during the Winters because of the heavy Snowfall and the statue of Lord Shiva is shifted to Mukunath Village. This village is located towards Ukhimath at a distance of 19 km from the temple.
