India was once ruled by Mughal’s, and at that time they built many historical monuments including Taj Mahal, Red Fort, Fatehpur Sikri, Humayun’s Tombetc. The uniform pattern of the structure including domes, minarets can be seen in all the monuments they built. Buland Darwaja in Agra is one of them.
Buland Darvaja was also known as “Gate of Magnificence” is the highest Gateway of World. It was erected by Mughal Emperor Akbar in the year of 1601. This 54 meters high structure is a 15 stories gateway and a southern doorway to Fatehpur Sikri.
Front doors and pillars of Buland Darwaja are carved with the verses of Holy “Kuran”. This door opens to a large patio and Jama Masjid. This semi-octagonal door is decorated with beautiful domes and minarets.
Some Facts and Information to know About Buland Darwaja
Akbar Built Buland Darvaja after getting victory over Gujarat.
It is made up of Buff and red sandstone inlaid with black and white marbles.
The lines written On an archway of doors are related to Christ, which considers Akbar as a symbol of religious tolerance.
It is a striking example of Hindu and Persian Architecture.
The huge pillars of Gate of Magnificence are a real surprise in itself, decorated with excellent carvings and doms. Inscription of Kuran and christ on the gateway are the best attraction of this historical monument.
