As Ooty is one of the major tourist attractions of South India, so many government and luxury buses from Bangalore, Mysore and Chennai ply towards Ooty. The overnight journey is quite comfortable. The special government buses plies daily at 5 pm and 7 pm from Calicut and it takes just 6 hours to reach Ooty.
The nearest railway station is Mettupalyam, which is just 40 kilometres from Ooty. There is regular train from Chennai, Coimbatore, Mysore and Bangalore connecting Mettupalyam.
